About

Pablo Rivera“My sculpture comes from a need to communicate timeless, universal issues, emotions, and sensualities from a deeply personal level. In my work, elements don’t have to necessarily go together but when combined provide a new visual experience. I want to give my audience new experiences, sometimes pleasant even humorous and sometimes disturbing. My current method of working with wood is laminating several pieces together then carving a pre-conceived image. I have been using scrap pieces, discarded from projects from wood shop machine demonstrations to make my laminations. Experiments in laminating stone adds new dimensions to my search for form with meaning.”

I was born in New York City, graduated from Cooper Union, furthered my education at The Education Alliance, The School of Visual Arts as well as classes at University of North Florida and Florida State College, Jacksonville. Workshops with Charles Reid, Don Andrews, Robert Leedy and Mary Whyte, added to my painting education. My passion for art in all its facets is what I am all about.

I have exhibited in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, California and Florida.

In Jacksonville, Florida, I have exhibited with the St. Augustine Art Association, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Jacksonville, The Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, The Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach, Art After Dark, The Art Center Cooperative Inc., Jacksonville, The Coalition of Visual Arts, The Adele Grage Cultural Center in Atlantic Beach and The Southlight Gallery.

I’m an accomplished photographer, drawer, watercolorist and sculptor. Contact me for bookings, commissions, and details on upcoming events.

To the right, there are direct links to purchase some of my best works of art at the Fine Art America Gallery.

My Life is Art

My life is ART, no apologies, however I love the sport of triathlon and ultra running.

I have this feeling that life is not all that long and I should cherish every moment, thing, experience person and place because it will go away, way too soon.
